Materials

• Clear, 2-part epoxy resin
• Masking tape
• Razor blade
• Small plastic cup
• Wooden craft stick
• Sandpaper ranging from 150-600 grit

Instructions

It is very common for chipping to occur at corners and edges of marble panels during installation. The stone should be handled carefully to avoid chipping. Small cracks or chips can be filled easily with a clear 2 part epoxy. Any epoxy used should be tested on a small inconspicuous area prior to patching the main units.

Clean the area of the chip thoroughly to remove any dirt or dust from the area. Allow the area to dry completely before applying the patch.

Tape the edges around the chip or void with masking tape to protect the other surfaces from the epoxy.

Mix the two part epoxy and fill the area to be patched. If repairing a deeper void, it is recommended to patch in layers so that the epoxy properly cures. If necessary, ground up stone can be mixed in with the epoxy to give it the coloring of the stone.

After the epoxy cures, a razor blade can be used to scrap off any epoxy left on the panel outside of the void. If the epoxy is slightly raised above the panel, a diamond blade wet grinder can be used to finely sand away and smooth out the epoxy and polish. Alternatively, sandpaper ranging from 150 to 600 grit can be used to restore the polish to the stone.
